Who can submit a Malaysian visa application online?
Malaysian authorities offer certain foreign nationals the option of applying for a visa online, through the Malaysia eVisa. If your Malaysia eVisa application is approved, you will receive it online and you have to print it – it won’t be affixed as a sticker on your passport.
You can only apply for a Malaysia visa online if you are a national of the following countries:
- Bangladesh
- Bhutan
- China
- India
- Montenegro
- Myanmar
- Nepal
- Pakistan
- Serbia
- Sri Lanka
Additionally, Indian and Chinese nationals are eligible for the eNTRI (Electronic Travel Registration and Information).

Malaysia Visa Application Steps
To apply for a Malaysia visa, you need to go through these simple steps:
- Find a Malaysian Representative Office.
- Download the application form.
- Complete the documents file.
- Submit the application along with the documents.
- Wait for processing.
Complete the documents file
When you submit a Malaysia visa application, you must have several supporting documents, such as:
- Two copies of the Malaysia visa application form
- Your original passport.
- Two photocopies of your passport
- Two passport size pictures.
- A copy of your flight itinerary, including a confirmed return ticket.
- Proof of accommodation in Malaysia, such as a hotel booking.
- If you are staying with friends/family, include an invitation letter.
- Bank statements from the past three months.
- If you are applying for a Malaysia Visa with Reference: Original approval letter from the
- Immigration Department of Malaysia or another authority.
Submit the application along with the documents
You have to submit the copies of the Malaysia visa application form along with your original passport and the required documents at the Malaysian Representative Office/visa application office. Depending on your country, you may be able to submit the application in person or by mail.
You have to affix a picture of yourself to the application form, which must be in line with Malaysia visa photo requirements.
Wait for processing
Depending on your country and the location in which you are applying, you may be able to track the process of your application online.
If your Malaysia visa application is approved, you have to retrieve your passport with the affixed visa. Then, you are allowed to travel to Malaysia.
Keep in mind that even though you may receive a visa for Malaysia, once you travel there, it is the Immigration Officer at the port of entry who decides whether to allow you to enter. Depending on your purpose of travel, they will give you the adequate Pass which states the number of days you’re allowed to stay in Malaysia. For example, if you want to travel to Malaysia for tourism purposes, you will receive a “Short Term Social Visit Pass” (see a list of Malaysia Passes below).
Just because your visa is valid for 30 days, it does not mean your Pass will be issued for the same amount of days as well.
Is Malaysia visa open for Pakistan?
The Malaysian tourist visa for Pakistanis can be applied for and received fully online, meaning that applicants do not have to visit a physical Malaysian embassy or consulate in Pakistan before making their trip.
How much is the visa fee for Pakistan?
The fee for an arrival visa to Pakistan is US$60-100 (this may vary depending on your country and nationality) for a single entry visa. The fee for a visa to Pakistan through the embassy for foreign nationals is US$25-100.
Can I apply Malaysia visa online?

What is Machine Readable Passport?
Machine Readable Passport (MRP) is a Passport printed electronically by machine. MRP Section of the High Commission takes data of the applicant e.g. personal details, photograph, thumb impression electronically and forward it to Directorate General, Immigration and Passports, Islamabad where the passports are printed and dispatched to the High Commission for onward delivery to the individual concerned. In case of online application, the passports are sent to the applicants directly on their addresses.

No. Personal presence of the applicant is must for Machine Readable Passport. In case the applicant already has an MRP (which is required to be renewed) or the applicant has to apply online to Directorate General IMPASS at the http://onlinemrp.dgip.gov.pk/, the applicant may wish to personally come to the High Commission to renew his passport.
I have a manual passport, can I convert it into MRP online?
No. Manual passport cannot be converted into MRP online. The applicants need to personally visit the High Commission in order to convert manual passport to Machine Readable Passport.
Can I apply for MODIFICATION (change of name etc) or for the renewal of LOST PASSPORT online?
No. For modification in the passport and in case of loss of passport, the applicant needs to visit the High Commission along with the previous passport, police report (in case of loss of passport), valid CNIC/NICOP.
How can I renew my passport?
In case you have already a Machine Readable Passport which is expiring soon and there is no change in data and you wish to renew your passport, you can renew it online at www.online.dgip.gov.pk by following the instructions on the page or by personally visiting the High Commission. Can I travel on the manual passport to Pakistan?
No, we would advise Pakistanis to get MRP to travel to Pakistan.
My NICOP/CNIC and passport have expired. How can I renew them?
If both your NICOP/CNIC and Passport have expired, you need to renew your NICOP/CNIC first. You can provide an affidavit alongwith your NICOP/CNIC application stating that both of your documents have expired. After getting it attested from the High Commission, the application can be submitted online at NADRA’s website: id.nadra.gov.pk Once the NICOP is renewed, you can apply for passport at the High Commission or online if your expired passport is Machine Readable.
What is processing time for renewal of Passport?
The processing time for renewal of Passport in normal category is 25 to 30 days whereas in urgent category is 12 to 15 days.
Can I receive my passport by post?
Yes, You can receive your passport by post (Pos Laju service only) if you are residing in Sabah and Sarawak state. For this service you need to send previous original passport and token slip alongwith return envelop to High Commission by post to get passport at your given address.
What is timing for processing of MRP Application and delivery of Passport?
The timings for processing of MRP Application is 0900hrs to 1130 hrs and 1600 hrs to 1630 hrs for delivery of passport.
